On Tuesday the 12th of May Shane Hegarty, the author of Darkmouth, a book that is selling all over the world came into our school and book club. He went into Anne and Marian’s 5th classes. He was autographing copies of Darkmouth and talking all about it. After school he came into book club. The people in book club had read and loved his book, Darkmouth. We each got an autograph either in the book or on a piece of paper.
He told us that it is published in 12 different languages. There are a lot of different covers; there is an Irish cover, a British cover and an American cover; there are also couple more covers.
He told us (in book club) that Finn (the main character) is based on him when he was a child. Darkmouth is based on Skerries, his home town (but it probably won’t be in a few years).
In Darkmouth there is a character called Broonie. Shane Hegarty wrote a 7000 word story about him. It is on the website www.waterstones.com. When you go onto Darkmouth at www.waterstones .com there will be an arrow; when you click it, it will go into the story.
